Can you bring snus and nicotine pouches to the Netherlands?
Travellers may bring snus and nicotine pouches into the Netherlands for personal use. Dutch customs: snus and nicotine pouches may be brought in for own use only, not for resale. General tobacco allowance from outside the EU per traveller aged 17 or over: 200 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco. Selling nicotine pouches in the Netherlands is banned and selling tobacco snus is banned.

Customs and penalties

- Penalties: Amounts above the allowance must be declared and are subject to import duty, excise and VAT. Consignments ordered online may be intercepted.
- Airport and airline: Dry goods; no carry-on or checked-baggage restriction.
- Minimum age in the Netherlands: 18
Douane states: 'U mag snus of nicotinezakjes alleen voor eigen gebruik meenemen naar Nederland.' Ordering pouches from a foreign webshop is not a safe route, because the sales ban applies to supply into the Netherlands and parcels can be seized.
